Welcome
The Optical Computing and Processing Laboratory (OCPL) within the Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona is concerned with optical devices, systems, and algorithms in support of optical and optoelectronic information processing. The OCPL is directed by Mark A. Neifeld and since 1991 has involved itself with research projects in the general areas of volume optical storage, pattern recognition, and optoelectronic devices/systems. The overall goal of the OCPL research group is to better understand the role that optics may play in the future computing systems. The approach that we have formulated in order to achieve this goal involves the study of appropriate algorithms, the development and demonstration of novel systems, and the design/analysis of important devices which support various aspects of optics in computing.
